Duquesne professor goes viral after cancelling class to let students celebrate March Madness win

"Go celebrate. I'll figure it out," said one professor to his students following the school's first NCAA Tournament victory in 55 years.

PITTSBURGH — School's out, at least for Thursday for some Duquesne University students.

A professor from the school is going viral after he cancelled class for his students following the university's first win in the NCAA Tournament since 1969.

The No. 11 seed Dukes topped sixth-seeded BYU in a 71-67 victory, their first tourney victory in 55 years, and of course, there was some excitement.

Professor Robert Healy III shared the e-mail he sent to his students on social media, saying, "Go celebrate. I'll figure it out."

The tweet has been viewed nearly 670,000 times, and even Dick's Sporting Goods responded to the tweet with a goat emoji.

According to Healy's biography on the Duquesne University website, he teaches a number of classes including sports writing, media literacy and public relations.

The Dukes will now face Illinois for the first time since 1988 in the Round of 32.

Tipoff is set for 8:40 p.m. on March 23.
