College Football | Here's what you need to know about Penn State's matchup with UCLA on Saturday

The No. 7 Nittany Lions host the Bruins, who have lost three in a row. The game will kick off at noon on FOX43.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Penn State's football season continues Saturday with a Big Ten matchup against UCLA in the FOX Big Noon Kickoff.

The game will also be a Stripe Out at Beaver Stadium, the university's athletics department said in a press release.

The No. 7 Nittany Lions, coming off a 21-7 home victory over Illinois in a prime time game last Saturday, are featured in the Big Noon Kickoff for the second time this season. In the first outing, Penn State defeated West Virginia 34-12 in Morgantown.

The Big Noon Kickoff will be televised on FOX43.

UCLA, playing its first season as a Big Ten team, enters the game looking to snap its three-game losing streak. The Bruins are 1-3 overall.

Here's a look at the matchup.

BETTING LINE: Penn State is a 27.5-point favorite over UCLA. The over/under for the game is set at 46.5 points.

SERIES HISTORY: Saturday's meeting will be the seventh all-time between Penn State and UCLA, but it'll also be the first time they've met since 1968. Penn State trails 4-2 in the all-time series, but won 21-6 in their last meeting 56 years ago.

This will be the first time Penn State and UCLA meet as Big Ten opponents.

STRIPE OUT: Saturday's matchup will be the ninth Stripe Out Game in Penn State history. The Lions are 5-3 in their previous eight Stripe Out games.

The first Stripe Out Game was played against Rutgers in 2015. Penn State won, 28-3.

ABOUT PENN STATE: The Lions shut out Illinois in the second half and limited the Illini to 59 total yards after the break, which allowed them to pull away in a hard-fought game. Penn State has allowed just nine second-half points all season.

Penn State is 4-0 for the fourth straight season. The Lions are the only FBS team to start 4-0 in each of the last four years.

Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton once again combined for a dynamic performance against Illinois. Allen rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries, while Singleton tallied 139 all-purpose yards (94 rushing) and scored on a 4-yard run.

Allen's big day lifted his career rushing yardage mark to 2.058. He and Singleton (2,221 career rushing yards) are just the second set of Penn State teammates to each eclipse 2,000 rushing yards for their career, joining Lydell Mitchell (2,934; 1969-71) and Franco Harris (2,002; 1969-71).

Singleton is Penn State's leading rusher this season, with 408 yards and three touchdowns on 53 carries (7.7 yards per carry). Allen has 289 yards and one TD on 53 attempts (5.5 yards per carry). Penn State averages 251 yards per game on the ground.

QB Drew Allar completed 15 of 21 passes for 135 yards and added 15 yards on four carries. For the season, Allar has thrown for 864 yards and eight touchdowns on 56-of-79 passing and added 92 yards and two scores on the ground.

Tight end Tyler Warren scored on a three-yard TD run against Illinois, taking a direct shotgun snap. Warren has passed for a touchdown, rushed for a touchdown, and leads Penn State with 20 catches for 260 yards and two TDs this season.

Defensive end Abdul Carter was voted the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Illinois, which included four of Penn State's 13 tackles for loss. The Lions also recorded seven sacks against the Illini, a season high.

ABOUT UCLA: The Bruins dropped their third straight with a 34-13 loss against Oregon last Saturday. UCLA opened the season with a 16-13 win at Hawaii, but has since fallen to Indiana (42-13), LSU (34-17), and Oregon. The Tigers and Ducks were both ranked in the Top 25 when they beat the Bruins.

Former NFL running back and UCLA alum DeShaun Foster is in his first year as head coach at UCLA after spending 10 seasons on the staff as an assistant.

Last week, Oregon outgained UCLA 431-172 in total yards. The Bruin defense is allowing 30.8 points and 398.3 yards per game, while the UCLA offense averages 14.8 points and 262 yards per game.

QB Ethan Garbers has completed 58 percent of his passes for 808 yards and three TDs this season. Last week, he had 118 yards for the Bruins.

RB T.J. Harden, who was held to 53 yards on the ground against Oregon, has 125 yards and a touchdown this season. Rico Flores Jr. is UCLA's top receiver, with 12 catches for 187 yards and a TD.
