PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Eagles return to Lincoln Financial Field tonight for the first time this season.
Coming off of a win against the Green Bay Packers in Brazil on Sept. 6, the 1-0 Eagles will face the 0-1 Atlanta Falcons on ESPN's Monday Night Football.
Here are some things to watch during tonight's game:
Saquon Barkley's first home game as an Eagle
After scoring three touchdowns in his first outing in an Eagles uniform, Barkley will undoubtedly receive an enthusiastic welcome from Philadelphia fans tonight. The 27-year-old running back already has a history with Pennsylvania, growing up in Coplay and attending Penn State University.
Jason Kelce returns
After officially announcing his retirement in March 2024, the former Eagles center will be back at the Linc tonight. However, instead of playing, he will be joining Troy Aikman and Joe Buck in the booth during the third quarter for ESPN's Monday Night Football.
Aikman posted about Kelce's appearance tonight on X, saying, "Making room for my new teammate and future HOF’er Jason Kelce as he will be joining Joe Buck and myself in the 3rd quarter on Monday Night Football tonight on ESPN."
This will not be the first bit of Eagles-related content Kelce will be involved in this season. NFL on ESPN posted a YouTube video yesterday that featured Kelce interviewing former teammate and current Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Eagles face Kirk Cousins in second game of the season for the third year in a row
The Eagles have not played the Falcons since Sept. 12, 2021. However, they are familiar with current Atlanta quarterback Kirk Cousins. This will be the third straight season in which Philadelphia faced Cousins on the second game of the season. Cousins played against the Eagles as quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings during on the second game of both the 2022 and 2023 seasons. The Eagles beat Cousins in both games, so fans are hoping for this to happen again.
AJ Brown out; Jahan Dotson likely to play more
Eagles receiver AJ Brown will not be playing tonight's game. According to Eagles coach Nick Sirianni, Brown experienced hamstring tightness during the team's practice on Friday. This will likely result in wide receiver Jahan Dotson, recently acquired from the Washington Commanders, experiencing more playing time against Atlanta. Like Barkley, this will be Dotson's first official home game as an Eagle.
Kickoff for tonight's game will be at 8:15 p.m.
