LANCASTER, Pa. — It's not very often a 15-year NFL veteran, Super Bowl winner and local high school league legend returns to his hometown, but that is exactly what former NFL quarterback Chad Henne is doing.
He's gback to the area that made him a star for the Wilson Bulldogs years ago.
"I still have all this football knowledge and I want to give it back to our youth," said Henne. "It’s a hardworking area, everyone is kind of blue-collar around here. That’s what I enjoy and I brought my family back here because I want to raise my kids the same way.”
Many kids participated in Henne's camp to learn from the former NFL vet. They worked on all the little things that matter when playing the game's most important position, such as footwork, arm angles, and mechanics.
For those who showed up, it was a no-brainer to learn from Henne.
“It’s really neat, you don’t see that very often," said Manheim Township sophomore Jack Kennef. "There is only a couple that have ever done it and it's cool to have him back and giving us his piece of thought and what he thinks.”
Henne plans to make this a recurring theme coaching the youth. Putting smiles on many of the young passers' faces.
“The more we can get involved and just help them as young men is great," said Henne. "At the same time, give them some fundamentals and lead them through their careers and better them, that’s what we're all about."
