PHILADELPHIA — It's a unique group of four that no other NFL team can claim to have.
The 'Core Four', composed of Jason Kelce, Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham and Lane Johnson, make up an elite group brimming with leadership and talent.
According to Philly Cover Corner, there are currently 21 players in the NFL who have 10 years of experience with only one team - the Eagles have four of them.
Brandon Graham is currently the longest-tenured Philadelphia Eagle, as he embarks on his 14th season with the team.
Jason Kelce, a six-time Pro Bowler, entered his 13th year in the NFL with an impressive streak of starting 139 straight games.
Another six-time Pro Bowler, Fletcher Cox returned to the Eagles following their Super Bowl loss. The veteran plays the role of mentor to younger players on the team, according to an interview with Philly Cover Corner.
The youngest and newest member of the Four is Lane Johnson. Entering his 11th season with the Eagles, the four-time Pro Bowler hasn't allowed a sack since 2020.
All four members share a similar goal: go out on top and win another Super Bowl with the team.
"We all joke about it and hopefully we all retire as Eagles and I think that's all our plan," Cox said in an interview with the Philadelphia Voice.
This isn't the first time the Eagles have had a solid team filled with leaders, but these four are poised to join the Philadelphia Eagle Hall of Fame, with two potentially becoming NFL Hall of Famers.
The idea of core players as leaders of a football team started all the way back in 1924 when the University of Notre Dame players quarterback Harry Stuhldreher, left halfback Jim Crowley, right halfback Don Miller and fullback Elmer Layden were given the nickname by fans and sportswriters, according to Philadelphia Sports Nation.
Whatever the 2023 season brings the team, there's no doubt that these four players will go down as legends in Eagles' history.
