LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — The 2024 U.S. Women's Open will be hosted right in central Pennsylvania's backyard--in Lancaster County.
The tournament is about 100 days away, but organizers say it's not too early to start thinking about plans to attend.
Over the next 90 days, players will compete to qualify for the Open. Some professional players are already locked in.
"The U.S. Women's Open brings the greatest female golfers in the world together on one stage to compete for four days for the biggest prize in golf," Rory Connaughton, vice chair of the U.S. Women’s Open, said.
It's been nearly a decade since the U.S. Women's Open was held at the Lancaster Country Club, and organizers are excited to bring it back.
"I don't think it's just important for Lancaster County; I think this is really a south central Pennsylvania celebration... Shining the spotlight on our communities for that period of time I think really gives people a great sense of just how vibrant a place this is to live and work and play, and when world class golfers are coming here, I think that's the proof in the pudding," Connaughton said.
He says when the tournament was last held in Lancaster in 2015, it drew 135,000 spectators--a record that has never been beaten since.
The 79th U.S. Women’s Open presented by Ally will take place from May 27 - June 2 at the Lancaster Country Club, located at 1466 New Holland Pike in Lancaster. There will be practice rounds Monday - Wednesday and competition rounds Thursday - Sunday.
