HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Harrisburg Stampede, a professional indoor football team based in Harrisburg, has decided to cease its operations effective immediately, the team announced on Dec. 3.

President Justin Coble brought the announcement to Facebook, addressing supporters that rising costs and a challenging environment made it "impossible to continue and be a viable team business."

"After careful consideration and evaluation of the current business environment, we have determined that it is no longer feasible to continue operations," said Coble.

The Stampede took off in 2009 but suspended operations on Dec. 30, 2014. The team decided to return last year, and on Aug. 18, 2023, the American Indoor Football League announced the team's comeback to the revived league.

"We want to express our deepest gratitude for your loyalty and support since we relaunched," Coble stated. "Leading the Stampede has been an honor and a privilege. We will still be moving forward with many partnerships and community endeavors with my other business. We will fulfill our commitment to the other non-profits and strive to make a difference in our neighborhood and communities."

For the next 30 days, the Stampede will be refunding all ticket orders and sponsors who prepaid for the 2025 season.

For additional questions or assistance during the transition, Coble encourages people to contact him at justin@hbgstampede.com.
