Big 33 roster loaded with twelve District III stars

Team PA will have representatives from the Mid-Penn Conference and the Lanc-Leb and York-Adams Leagues, including three from Manheim Township.

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — The prestigious Big 33 game between teams Maryland and Pennsylvania is gearing up for its 67th edition in May. The roster reveal at Cumberland Valley High School unveiled 12 local stars on the roster, with representatives from all three local leagues as well.

"Being a part of this game and actually playing with this level of talent in Pennsylvania is really amazing," said Steel-High quarterback Alex Erby. "Just looking at that list and watching the Super Bowl and one day being like, 'Oh I played with that guy in the big 33.' It's an unreal moment."

Erby will share play-calling duties with Manheim Township quarterback Hayden Johnson. The Blue Streaks have three players on the roster, a first in school history.

"It wasn't something we set out to do necessarily," said Johnson. "Having three players cements our legacy. There has never been three before for [Manheim]Township and having three shows how great we were."

District III players have faired well in the Big 33 game. Most recently last year's performance from Big 33 MVP and former Dallastown wide receiver Kenny Johnson. Showing the amount of talent the district has to offer.

"To have as many players representing District III is really exciting," said Manheim Township head coach Mark Evans. "It's good for the local game too, it's going to bring local outs because they are right around the corner."

The Big 33 game will take place on Sunday, May 26 at Cumberland Valley High School.
