CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — The first day of the PIAA District III Track and Field Championships took place on Friday with Central Pennsylvania schools putting on a show in the finals for field events. Nine out of the 14 gold medals handed out at Shippensburg University were to athletes from schools in the Central Pennsylvania area.

Girls Pole Vault 2A - Lilyana Carlson (Bermudian Springs)
Girls Discus Throw 3A - Maria Clark (Mechanicsburg Area)
Girls High Jump 3A - Ella Bahn (Spring Grove)
Girls Shot Put 2A - Reagan Wentzel (Millersburg)
Girls Triple Jump 2A - Alisson Watts (Bermudian Springs)
Girls Long Jump 3A - Olianna Oravitz (Solanco)
Girls Javelin Throw 3A - Eliana Schneider (Cedar Crest)
However, a common theme was evident from the athletes on the podium, their mind is now set on the state championships that take place next weekend.
"I came in calm and collected, I didn't let myself get too overworked up, I stayed poised, I stayed disciplined and I just went out there and did what I had to do," said Jeremiah Hargrove, a senior from Trinity who won the boys triple jump 2A event. "I felt good going into this thing the whole time and then next weekend just coming into the same energy same intensity and hope for the best outcome."
