Trinity girls volleyball looks to claim second state title in historic fashion

The Shamrocks finished the regular season and district play 22-0 with 66 straight-set wins.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — The Trinity Shamrocks girls volleyball team has enjoyed a historic season this year.

The team finished the regular season and district play with a 22-0 record, a District 3 2A title and 66 straight sets won, without dropping a single one all year.

The school's first, and only, state title was achieved in 2020; now, they have a chance to add to their monster season once the state playoffs begin.

"I've never heard of anything like this, where you can't even drop a set," said Head Coach John Barrick. "We've got to the point where we have to embrace it. We are just going to try and ride it the whole way, so it's cool to be at this point with our team."

The Shamrocks' talent is led by a senior-heavy squad with all-state-caliber talents. Teammates have embraced the record, but note that they operate more so as a family, rather than just a team.

"We're all best friends," said Senior Middle Hitter Sammi Mcauliffe. "It's not just because we are talented girls. We work so well together and love to play the game."

The Shamrocks will be pleased to bring any state title back to campus, but to do it in such a historic way is the cherry on top.

"Either way, we are going to be happy with the outcome," said Junior Outside Hitter Jayda Gray "But I think it will be exciting to see how far we can take this no sets dropped thing."
