HERSHEY, Pa. — After being shut out on opening night, the Hershey Bears wasted no time getting on the scoresheet three times in the first period, making them en route to a 5-2 victory over the Cleveland Monsters at Giant Center on Sunday.
Hardy Haman-Aktell managed to nab his first score as a Bear to open the game; Ethen Frank and Mike Vecchione added two more in the first period, leaving the Bears with a 3-1 lead to the locker room.
Cleveland's Marcus Bjork scored at 8:54 of the second to make it 3-2, but luckily Pierrick Dube made it count with a late score for Hershey at 19:01 to maintain a 2-goal lead at intermission.
The Bears successfully closed out the game and won 5-2.
