HERSHEY, Pa. — The 2023-24 regular season for the Hershey Bears continues to get better and better.
Friday's 4-1 victory over Lehigh Valley is their 51st win of the season and pulls the Bears to within one point of clinching the American Hockey League's regular season title.
The 51st win ties a league record for most wins in a 72-game regular season.
If the Bears win or lose any remaining game in overtime, they will have earned enough points to clinch home-ice advantage in every playoff series, and that includes if they advance to the Calder Cup Finals.
Even if the Bears were to lose every one of their four games left, any loss from Coachella Valley in their final five games will also get the job done.
Hershey started their weekend with the convincing performance over the Phantoms.
They now travel to Wilkes-Barre on Saturday to face the Penguins at 6 p.m. The same two teams face at GIANT Center on Sunday at 5 p.m. Both of those games can be seen on FOX43.2 Antenna TV.
