ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The Hershey Bears went on the road for the first time in the 2024 Calder Cup playoffs. After they finished on the short end of a 2-0 shutout on Wednesday, they'll have to do it again on Saturday night.
The Phantoms played like a desperate team with their season on the line and scored two power-play goals against the Bears vaunted penalty kill unit, the best in the AHL during the regular season.
Bears goalie Hunter Shepard did not surrender any goals at even strength, but the offense failed to put one in the net against a Phantoms team motivated to extend their season.
The Bears still lead the best of five Atlantic Division Semifinals two games to one and get a second chance to close out Lehigh Valley in Allentown on Saturday Night.
