WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — The Hershey Bears visit the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins tonight at 7:05 p.m. at Mohegan Arena, looking to continue their impressive road performance this season.
The Bears bring a 14-5-3-0 record into the game against the Penguins' 11-4-1-0 mark.
In the season's first meeting, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton edged Hershey 5-4 in regulation. Filip Král led the Penguins with a four-point night (2g, 2a), including the opening goal 55 seconds into the game.
Hershey answered with goals from Bogdan Trineyev, Vincent Iorio, Chase Priskie, and Ethen Frank. However, Rutger McGroarty’s late game-winner sealed the victory for the Penguins. Sergei Murashov stopped 30 shots in the win, while Hunter Shepard made 18 saves for the Bears.
Chance to Extend Record Road Streak
Hershey's 8-0-2-0 road record this season has already eclipsed the franchise record for the best road point streak to start a season (2006-07, 8-0-0-1). With a point tonight, the Bears can surpass their overall road streak record of 10 games, set during the 2005-06 season. Hershey was 3-3-0-0 in Wilkes-Barre last season and owns a lifetime 63-62-1-9-3 road record against the Penguins.
Frank on Fire
Frank has scored in four straight games (4g), tying Calgary’s Rory Kerins atop the AHL’s goal-scoring leaderboard with 15 tallies. The Bears boast an 8-2-1-0 record when Frank scores. Frank's 21 points this season also place him eighth in the league. Hershey's last top scorer was Alexandre Giroux (50 goals in 2009-10), and Chris Bourque was the most recent Bear to win the scoring title in 2015-16.
