Hershey Bears talk musical tastes in city that rocks

Which bands and performers the team would check out at Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Hershey Bears stay in Cleveland was extended a few days after their setback in Game 4 against the Monsters on Thursday.  No need to sing the blues, the team is still in control of its best of seven Eastern Conference Finals series 3-1.

With a little extra time on our hands and considering we are in the city that rocks, FOX43 asked members of the Bears organization which bands and performers they would check out at the nearby Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

“I’m not a big rock and roll guy," admitted Bears Defenseman Vincent Iorio.  "Probably Bon Jovi, he’s like probably one of the first answers that anybody would say.”

Head Coach Todd Nelson didn't hesitate to get in the conversation and rattled off his top three quickly.

"I'd go check out AC/DC for sure, big fan.  Johnny Cash, Guns 'N Roses, those are my top three," he listed.

Road crews are a big part of rock and roll.  We talked with the team's broadcast and media road crew to find out their preferences.

“My parents were huge fans of the Eagles so that’s who I grew up listening to all the time," said Zack Fisch, the Bears TV and radio play-by-play broadcaster.  "I got to see them in concert in D.C. a couple years ago. Unfortunately, Glenn Frey had already passed. His son, Deacon, did an amazing job. Vince Gill was there as well, so getting to see all them in person and Don Henley, who my Dad was a big fan of growing up, in person was awesome. I’d check them out.”

“I’m a big country guy so I would need to brush up on my rock and roll," said former Bears Captain and current TV analyst Garrett Mitchell.  "For me, growing up in the 90’s, Nirvana and that kind of stuff.”

Jesse Liebman is the team's Media Specialist and a music aficionado.  He was fully prepared with his response.

“I will go with three B’s," he said. "Bob Marley, just saw the biopic, loved his work. Billy Joel and I have to go with the Bee Gees, kind of a deep cut, but I saw a documentary about them a few years ago and I think it’s one of the best rock documentaries and they’ve always had a solid body of work.”

All good answers but for the Bears, they want to turn down the noise and finish off this series. One more victory and they are rocking and rolling back to the Calder Cup Finals.

Game 5 is Saturday at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on FOX43.2 Antenna TV.
