Penn Manor grads Emma, Brooke DeBerdine realize Olympic field hockey dream together

The two sisters will represent the U.S. in the upcoming Olympic games in Paris.

PENNSYLVANIA, USA — The upcoming Olympic games will feature former Penn Manor Field hockey standouts Emma and Brooke DeBerdine suiting up for Team USA.

The sisters both made the U.S. Women's Field Hockey Olympic roster this year after months of training and standing out during various competitions. 

The two have been hand-in-hand their entire careers while playing at the University of Maryland, and now they will head to Paris together as well.

"I think everyday we can just try to be the best athletes that we can possibly be and we knew that it's all we could do," Brooke explained. "It worked out, and we are really excited, but I think an Olympic dream is an Olympic dream until you walk out on that field."

The duo will apart of a 16-player roster with many other Pennsylvania natives. Their drive and competition in Central Pennsylvania is one reason they feel they are build for the games biggest stage. 

"We have grown into being so competitive with each other, and in turn grown to love each other on the field more as well," Emma said, "Just to play here and go against so many great players in the area has really helped us both and being competitive has made us a lot better."

Team USA will prepare in Charlotte, North Carolina before heading to Paris. 

The Olympics will begin July 17.
