Hershey Cubs USPHL hockey team receives new gym at Hersheypark Arena

The Cubs will have access to donated fitness equipment to help them train due to a partnership with National Fitness Partners.

HERSHEY, Pa. — The Hershey Cubs USPHL hockey team has some brand-new equipment to look forward to.

The team was awarded a new gym for in and off-season training thanks to a partnership with National Fitness Partners. It's a development that has the players excited.

"It’s huge, we never had anything like that," said Cubs right-wing Tallen Forrey. "As a young player, we always had to go places for training and workouts and now we get to do it in the rink which kind of feels like home."

The gym was installed right on the premises. The Cubs will also have a new personal trainer- Tony Fernandez- who looks forward to working with the team.

"We're able to have the gym in the locker room and in the rink, that way it saves time that they aren't having to travel and rush back," said Fernandez. "They can come in here, recover, and then go to the ice.

National Fitness Partner President Stephen Kindler says it was a no-brainer to work with the Cubs. Central Pennsylvania is no stranger to great hockey teams and players, and they wanted to be a small part of developing the next generation.

"We both want what's best for the community and what's best for the kids." said Kindler Jr. "Ultimately to deliver a nice product on the ice and deliver something new and in south-central Pennsylvania."

The new partnership is part of helping the Cubs program continue to grow and develop their athletes to compete with the best in the league.
