Stormers star Joe Carpenter uses familiar surroundings to his advantage

The Cedar Crest grad stays local in the offseason to prepare to shine on gameday.

LANCASTER, Pa. — While baseball players travel far and wide to train in the offseason, that is not the case for Lancaster Stormers first baseman Joe Carpenter

The Cedar Crest grad who has won back-to-back Atlantic League titles has the fortunate advantage of staying at home to work out and train for the season.

“A lot of kids and players don’t get to experience that," said Carpenter. "Every home game, my family is here, and it's definitely nice.”

Carpenter frequently spent his time at and near the facility this offseason. With opening day for the new-look Stormers around the corner, Carpenter will be leaned on even more this season—a role that he is looking forward to taking

"I've been working out five days a week, running three days a week and then hitting five days a week," said Carpenter. "So, I have definitely been getting after it this offseason, and I'm excited to get things rolling again."

His dedication has also been noticed by Stormers manager Ross Peebles. He's been a big part of Carpenter's offseason as well.

“He’s a pleasure to be around," said Peebles. "It’s a pleasure as a coach to watch him go to work each and every day and compete.”

Carpenter's and the Stormers' opening day is set for April 30.
