PENNSYLVANIA, USA — A new study has revealed that Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles jerseys are among the top 10 most resold NFL jerseys on eBay.
The study was conducted by mystery box site Cases.gg, and it analyzed eBay listings for sports jerseys across major U.S. professional leagues. The results showed that the Steelers rank third in the NFL for most resold jerseys, with 13,248 listings on the popular resale platform.
"There is a growing trend of integrating sports influence into fashion, fueled by the celebrity status of sports stars and the endorsement by influential A-listers," said Gabriele Asaro, Head of Research for Cases.gg. "This trend means that interest in sports jerseys is not limited to traditional sports fans as it now boasts appeal to the average consumer."
The Green Bay Packers topped the list with 14,405 resold jerseys, followed by the Dallas Cowboys with 14,041 listings. The Philadelphia Eagles, with 11,053 listings, and the New England Patriots rounded out the top five NFL teams.
Asaro also noted that the rise of thrifting and secondhand shopping has driven increased demand for previously owned sports apparel.
"Online platforms like eBay provide a convenient and affordable way to acquire these jerseys while sustainably participating in fashion trends," he said.
The study's findings suggest that the Steelers' and Eagles' passionate fan bases and the teams' longstanding popularity contribute to the high resale demand for their jerseys.
The number of jersey listings for each team in the NFL, MLS, NBA, MLB, and NHL were collected from eBay.com. The number of jersey listings for each sporting league was ranked to find which were the most resold online.
