Lancaster Catholic grad Jefferson taken by Minnesota in WNBA Draft

The former Crusader was selected with the 31st overall pick.

LANCASTER, Pa. — In the talent-rich 2024 WNBA Draft, everyone knew that Iowa phenom Caitlin Clark would be taken first overall.

For Lancaster native Kiki Jefferson, the wait would be a little longer, but worth it.

The Minnesota Lynx drafted Jefferson in the third round with the 31st overall pick.

Monday night was the realization of a dream for the Lancaster Catholic grad.

Jefferson signed with James Madison after her time as a Crusader, before transferring to Louisville for her final college season.

With 1,838 points in her time at JMU, she's sixth on the all-time scoring list for the Dukes. Jefferson was the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year and named the Sun Belt Tournament Most Outstanding Player.

Jefferson transferred to Louisville for her final year of eligibility.  She helped the Cardinals to the NCAA tournament while earning All-ACC Second Team honors.

Jefferson led the Cardinals in points per game in her only season in Louisville, starting 32 of 34 games.  The Lynx also landed forward Alissa Pili out of Utah in the first, via a trade with Chicago.

The 2024 regular season starts on Tuesday, May 14th for the Lynx when they travel to Seattle.
