Eagles swing deal with Commanders for wideout Jahan Dotson, former Penn State star

Philly sends a 2025 third round pick and a pair of seventh round picks to Washington in exchange for Dotson and a fifth round pick, sources say.

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has done it again.

The Birds have reportedly made a trade to bolster their receiving corps, swinging a deal with the Washington Commanders to land Jahan Dotson, a former first-round draft pick and Penn State star.

The Commanders will reportedly receive on of Philadelphia's 2025 third-round draft picks and a pair of seventh-round selections. In addition to Dotson, the Eagles will reportedly receive a fifth-round pick from Washington.

The news was announced by the Eagles at 11:31 a.m. Thursday.

With Dotson, the Birds have added a reliable third receiving option alongside the dangerous combo of A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith. The former Nittany Lion standout joins another former Happy Valley star -- running back Saquon Barkley, who signed with Philadelphia as a free agent prior to the season.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will have no shortage of options to choose from when he drops back to pass.

Dotson, 24, caught 49 passes for 518 yards and four touchdowns in Washington last season. The Commanders used the No. 16 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft to select Dotson, who never really caught on in D.C. He has 84 catches for 1,041 yards and 11 TDs in his two seasons as a pro.

But at Penn State, Dotson was one of the best players of coach James Franklin's tenure. He appeared in 42 games in four years with the Nittany Lions, grabbing 183 receptions for 2,757 yards and 25 touchdowns. In his final year in Happy Valley, Dotson caught 91 passes for 1,812 yards and 12 scores.

He left Penn State ranked second all-time in career receptions and single-season receptions, was fourth in career receiving yards and second in single-season receiving yardage, and second in both career and single-season TDs.
