Here's when the Philadelphia Eagles will be wearing their Kelly Green jerseys this year

The Birds will don their classic uniforms in Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars and in Week 17 against the Dallas Cowboys, the team said Friday.

PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Eagles on Friday let their fans know when they'll don their Kelly Green uniforms during the upcoming season.

The Birds will wear their classic colors for their home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9 (Nov. 3), and again for their home showdown with their arch-rival Dallas Cowboys in Week 17 (Dec. 29), the team said on social media.

It's the second straight season that the Eagles will use Kelly Green as one of their alternate uniforms.

Last year, the Birds also wore them twice, rewarding fans who had been asking them to go back to their classic look for years.

Owner Jeffrey Lurie changed the Eagles' uniform colors from Kelly Green to the darker Midnight Green in 1996, marking the first time in more than 60 years that the Birds changed colors. In games where they wore alternate colors, the Birds mostly elected to go with black jerseys with Midnight Green accents.

The Eagles also wanted to use their throwback colors as an alternate look for several years, but NFL safety rules decreed that players could not use more than one helmet model, and the Birds' darker helmets clashed with the Kelly Green. Lurie and the team did not want to use a decal as an alternative.

The NFL loosened its helmet standards prior to the 2022 season, ruling that teams could use two different helmets -- their main style, and an alternate -- but it took an extra year for the Eagles and Nike, which supplies uniforms to the league, to settle on the correct shade of Kelly Green for the 2023 season.
