Here's what mock draft numbers say about Commanders pick choices

We evaluate the numbers from four different mock draft simulators, to let the data show who should be chosen with the key second pick.

WASHINGTON — The 2024 NFL Draft is less than three months away, and with the Commanders having a prime drafting position, mock drafts are already starting to pop up everywhere. This article is no ordinary mock draft, though, as we will be relying on the numbers to tell us who your Washington Commanders are going to select with the second overall pick.

We used four different mock draft simulators 10 times each, for a whopping 40 simulations restricted to only the first round.

First, let's discuss the player most likely to be selected with the second pick.

Drake Maye is a quarterback coming out of the University of North Carolina. He has been selected in 37.5% of draft simulations. Maye totaled 7,929 passing yards, 62 passing touchdowns and 16 interceptions in two years as a starter at UNC, amassing a 17-9 record.

A second option for the Commanders is Caleb Williams, the quarterback for the University of Southern California. Williams was selected in 22.5% of draft simulations. He totaled 8170 passing yards, 72 passing touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in two years at USC, amassing a 18-8 record since 2022.

In 67.5% of draft simulations, the Commanders selected a quarterback with the second pick. Other notable mentions for quarterbacks are LSU's Jayden Daniels (5%) and South Carolina's Spencer Rattler (2.5%)

The Commanders could also take an offensive tackle, as they did in 15% of simulations, while a wide receiver joined the team 12.5% of the time.

The position taken with the lowest percentage was edge rusher, which was selected only 5% of the time.

Numbers are always subject to change, so keep an eye out for an updated version of this mock draft as we approach April.
