WASHINGTON — All eyes are on Simone Biles as she competes for her first medal since the Tokyo Olympics in the women's team final, with thousands of cheering fans in the crowd; among them is her husband, Jonathan Owens.
Owens was shown on the broadcast in the crowd as his wife competed with Team USA. He was seated next to Biles' parents, Nellie and Ron Biles
With the "twisties" and Tokyo firmly behind her, the Olympic champion is headlining Team USA's women's gymnastics team with fellow gymnastics stars Sunisa Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey and newcomer Hezly Rivera.
Where is Simone Biles' husband?
Owens, who flew to Paris for the Games to support his wife, was cheering from the stands along with his mother and father-in-law Nellie and Ron Biles.
A photo of Owens in the stands showed him standing up to clap and cheer, holding an American flag.
Owens posted photos on his Instagram story Sunday as he cheered on Biles while watching the qualification round from the U.S. He arrived in Paris Monday night, just before the gymnastics team final on Tuesday.
Family members aren't allowed on the floor during Olympic competitions, unless they happen to be the athlete's coach.
What team does Jonathan Owens play for?
Owens, who is an athlete himself, is currently playing as a safety for the Chicago Bears.
The NFL team is allowing him to miss out on five days of training camp in order to travel to Paris to cheer on his wife.
The athletic pair are building a house in the Houston suburbs that will be finished in late summer or early fall — after the Paris Games.
When did Jonathan Owens and Simone Biles get married?
Biles married Owens in April 2023 at a courthouse in Houston.
The couple met on a dating app called Raya in March 2020 and began dating shortly after. A few weeks after their marriage, they held a second ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
"I do ... officially Owens," the seven-time Olympic medalist wrote on Instagram at the time, sharing photos of the ceremony. In his own post, Owens called her "My person, forever."
