Laughton scores twice to lead Flyers past Capitals 3-1

The Flyers could earn to top seed in the Eastern Conference with a win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.

TORONTO, ON — Scott Laughton had two goals and Travis Sanheim also scored, leading the Philadelphia Flyers to a 3-1 win over the Washington Capitals. 

Kevin Hayes had three assists for the Flyers, and Brian Elliott stopped 16 shots. 

Travis Boyd scored for the Capitals.

The Flyers play Tampa Bay on Saturday and the winner will earn the top seed in the East.
