TEXAS, USA — A Lancaster native is going to the World Series.
Travis Jankowski, 32, is apart of a Texas Rangers' squad that defeated the Houston Astros in Game 7 of the 2023 American League Championship Series and claimed its spot in baseball's final round.
This year, Jankowski spent the season as a backup outfielder with the team, getting into 107 contests while hitting .263 with 1 HR and 30 RBI's.
Of course, the best players play during the postseason, leaving Jankowski more relegated to a bench role.
However, he does have a hit in two at-bats he has received across four appearances so far this postseason.
If Texas does not change its roster entering the World Series, Jankowski should have his spot secured on the bench.
"Like you said, this is a kid's dream," Jankowski said after the game. "We're going to the World Series. You dream of this from the time you're 4 years old and understand what a World Series is. Complete and utter joy."
The Texas Rangers will host Game 1 of the World Series on Oct. 27.
