PennDOT plans Dauphin County bridge inspections for next week

Multiple bridges over Route 283 in Londonderry and Lower Swatara townships and Route 322 in Derry Township are scheduled to be inspected next week.

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has multiple bridge inspections planned for next week.

Starting Monday, PennDOT will inspect the Middletown Road (Route 2003) bridge spanning Route 322 at the eastbound Hummelstown/Middletown Exit in Derry Township. 

Weather permitting, the Middletown Road bridge will be inspected from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 16. There will be single lane closures on eastbound and westbound Route 322 at the bridge during work hours.

Crews will be looking at multiple bridges spanning Route 283 in Londonderry and Lower Swatara townships for the rest of the week, beginning Tuesday. Weather permitting, bridges carrying Oberlin Road, Vine Street, Newberry Road and Toll House Road over Route 283 will be inspected from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Sept. 17 through Sept. 20. 

PennDOT reminds drivers to be alert and drive with caution through work zones.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day via website or app. It provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
