LANCASTER, Pa. — Commuters, rejoice! Route 30 at the Route 222 interchange is open!

Sunday morning, PennDOT announced that eastbound and westbound Route 30 and the bridge carrying northbound and southbound Route 222 over Route 30 are open to traffic.

The closures, which began this past Friday evening, were expected to last until Monday morning, but work was completed "ahead of schedule."

Route 30 and the bridge carrying Route 222 were closed for a planned demolition of the Route 222 southbound bridge to eastbound Route 30. The demolition was part of a broader project aimed at improving the Route 222/Route 30 interchange and reconstructing part of Route 222, according to a PennDOT release.

PennDOT urges drivers to be alert and drive with caution through the work zone while the project continues.
