Tractor-trailer carrying alcohol overturns along I-81 southbound in Cumberland County

No injuries were reported and all lanes were reopened after 6 p.m., according to PennDOT officials.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — An overturned tractor-trailer along Interstate 81 in Cumberland County caused some major traffic delays. 

According to Fritzi Schreffler with PennDOT, around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, a tractor-trailer overturned on I-81 southbound just before Exit 52 (Middlesex) and blocked the interstate. 

Schreffler stated that according to Pennsylvania State Police, the tractor-trailer was carrying about 43,000 pounds of various kinds of alcohol. 

No injuries were reported. 

Traffic was diverted at Exit 57 (Mechanicsburg, Rt. 114) and then back on at Exit 52. 

According to Schreffler, all lanes of I-81 southbound were reopened around 6 p.m.
