Section of Route 30 reopens after deadly crash in Adams County

All lanes of Route 30 were closed overnight between Calvary Field Road and Granite Station Road for a deadly crash.

ADAMS COUNTY, Pa. — An Adams County section of U.S. 30 that was closed overnight due to a fatal crash has now reopened, a PennDOT spokesperson said. It opened around 8:23 a.m.

All lanes of Route 30 were closed between Calvary Field Road and Granite Station Road. PennDOT says the crash happened shortly after 1 a.m. on Feb. 6 and involved a tractor trailer and pickup truck.

Pennsylvania State Police say a Chevrolet Silverado was driving east on Route 30 when it swerved into the path of a tractor trailer driving west and collided with it head-on. The driver of the Chevy, Jarod D. Henize, 25, of Connelly Springs, N.C., died. The other driver was uninjured.

The closed portion of highway was just east of U.S. 15. in Straban Township.

PennDOT said cleaning up the crash would take hours because 200 gallons of diesel fuel spilled.
