YORK COUNTY, Pa. — A portion of Route 30 in York County will be closed this weekend while workers repair a sinkhole, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said Thursday.
Weather permitting, Route 30 West will be closed between Kenneth Road and Route 74 (Carlisle Avenue) from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday, PennDOT said.
The scheduled closure may last longer if circumstances require it, according to PennDOT. If the road is going to remain closed longer than scheduled, PennDOT said, another announcement will be released.
The sinkhole is located along the right should of the road, just east of the off-ramp to Route 74, PennDOT said.
Travelers heading west on Route 30 should turn right onto Roosevelt Avenue and proceed north to Route 238, turn left onto Route 238 and proceed west to Route 74, then turn left on Route 74 and proceed south to Route 30.
There may be delays and congestion along the detour route, PennDOT said. Travelers are advised to avoid the area, if possible.
