CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — Update, 10:43 a.m.: The crash has been cleared and all lanes are now open, according to PennDOT. There are residual delays according to 511pa.com.
Previously: Traffic delays have hit Interstate 81 in Cumberland County following an early morning crash.
Pennsylvania State Police in Carlisle responded to a tractor trailer crash that occurred around 8 a.m. Saturday morning. PennDOT officials told FOX43 that the tractor trailer crashed through the center median at mile-marker 53 and into the northbound lanes before finally ending up in the woods.
PennDOT reported that the tractor trailer is on top of a vehicle and that the northbound right lane is closed. As a result, northbound traffic is back-logged for about four miles.
There will likely be further closures to remove the tractor trailer from the road, PennDOT said, but there is no timetable on when the road will reopen fully.
State Police say that they do not have a report of injuries at this time and that the matter is under investigation by the Carlisle barracks.
