LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — A one-of-a-kind collection of cars on display in Lancaster County will have car lovers staring in awe while taking them on a walk down memory lane.
Barry’s Car Barn in Leacock Township, Lancaster County is a car lover's paradise with no shortage of automobile relics, memorabilia and much more.
It's a collection entirely owned by Lancaster County resident Barry Baldwin, who has been building his collection for more than six decades.
"This is all one man’s dream, one man’s place," said Dan Auker, who helps manage Barry's Car Barn. "[Barry] just wants to share cars and the history of the American automobile and motorcycles with people.”
From Corvettes and Shelby Mustangs to Packards and Harley-Davidsons, Barry's Car Barn has something for every type of car enthusiast.
"You’re going to find a car in here that you like and the color, the characteristics, the charisma of the cars," said Auker. "[They] speak to the heart."
Baldwin began collecting car signs when he was a teen which quickly moved on to hot rods and other automobile favorites. It's a passion that began with his father who owned a car garage that has stayed with the family since 1922.
Over the years, the collection continued to grow, each one having a unique story that compelled Baldwin.
"Each of these cars has a story to him and he shares those stories," said Auker. "Some are fun. Some are funny. He really enjoys [telling them]."
It's a collection that jogs old memories while creating new ones for visitors.
"The cars jog their memory and it brings a whole new part of [their] life back to life," said Auker. "They are enthralled with the memories they have forgotten. It brings back the kid in them."
