HERSHEY, Pa. — The Hershey Story Museum in Derry Township, Dauphin County takes visitors on a once upon a time journey right in the heart of Chocolatetown.
"It is a really positive story," said Amy Zeigler, the senior director for the Hershey Story Museum. "I think it’s really fun for people to discover that when they come here."
The museum, located on Chocolate Avenue, takes visitors on a unique historical journey all about the sweetest place on earth. It's a fascinating story told through the life of the iconic American chocolatier, businessman and philanthropist, Milton Hershey.
"We look at Milton Hershey’s early life, his personal life, his marriage, the chocolate company he built, the community that he built and also his incredibly generous philanthropies," said Zeigler.
The museum has five exhibits that detail Milton Hershey's life and the community he built. From artifacts to interactive activities, it's a learning experience for the entire family.
"It’s a fun space, you can spend many hours here," said Zeigler. "We have things in this space that really appeal to all ages."
The museum also gives a chance for people to try Hershey's famous chocolate in special ways. Visitors can take part in one of their many 45-minute classes held in their "Chocolate Lab" where people can learn more about the chocolate-making process while getting to make some of their own.
There is also a tasting area where people can try warm drinking chocolates from around the world.
In the end, it's a Hershey story that you won't forget.
"There’s definitely a lot to learn about Hershey," said Zeigler. "If you haven’t been to the Hershey story I guarantee you’ll find out something you didn’t know before."
