LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Strap in for a fall adventure in Clay Township, Lancaster County.
While it's not quite autumn yet, Refreshing Mountain Retreat is hosting its 'Fall Fest Days.' That means spending time outside before the cold weather kicks in: Axe-throwing, climbing through obstacles on a high ropes course and flying through the air on three different zipline courses while playing seasonally-themed games.
"We have everything from pumpkin smashing on our ziplines, to playing cornhole from our ziplines, to the rubber ducky drop," said Phil True, 'Fun Scheduler' with Refreshing Mountain.
If folks are able to hit three of four targets along the course, they'll receive a free t-shirt.
"We truly believe if you can be present with one another, you are going to actually experience life to the fullest," True said when asked about the importance of disconnecting at Refreshing Mountain. "Those moments where it's even just turning off your phone, or leaving it in the car, or bringing it with you for pictures sake not for posting on social media. Just being present in that moment."
FOX43's crew had a first-time zipliner try out the fall-themed ziplines. The Refreshing Mountain crew was very thorough with safety standards and made our crew member feel safe.
"Honestly just know that you're going to have a great time, trust you'll have a great time," said True when asked about advice for first-time zipliners. "Part of that is trusting the equipment you're using, the people hooking you in. They do all the hard skills, you just have to sit back, relax and enjoy the time together."
And while Refreshing Mountain is celebrating fall, it's also getting ready for the winter. The Adventure Center is already starting to hang up nearly half a million Christmas lights around the courses to get ready. They also have a donation-based holiday light walk-thru option. 100% of money made through that will be donated to local nonprofits. You can find more information on that here.
