YORK COUNTY, Pa. — From unique activities to places to explore, there’s no shortage of fun things to do in York County- and some activities you might not even know about. No matter who you are, where you are from or what you are interested in doing, the area has something for everyone.
"Whether you’re in Wrightsville, Dillsburg, Shrewsbury or Hanover, there’s so much to do. There’s all kinds of hidden gems," said Melissa Beaverson, director of destination marketing for Explore York. "It’s just such a unique area because there really is something for everyone here."
For the competitive ones, Aces Axe Throwing in Shrewsbury opened up last year. It offers a chance to learn and try out the sport while enjoying a fun atmosphere with friends or family.
"It’s a sense of excitement when people come in here a little bit nervous," said Andrew Bobby, general manager of Aces Axe Throwing. "Just throw it up there and we’ll help you out and we’ll get you sticking it. Watching people jump off their feet, so excited, it brings a good feeling."
For art lovers, Creative York is waiting for you to check out some great local pieces. It's an organization located in the heart of the city that offers arts education, gallery experiences, and outreach programs.
"They can come back often and see new art by local artists and artists from the entire region," said Lyn Bergdoll, executive director of Creative York. "It’s really inspiring to see their work but it’s really wonderful also to see the work that is created by people here in our community."
For families looking to do something fun with their kids, there’s a space just for you at L&E Playhouse to create lasting memories.
"We try to offer the weekly crafts that are set up to take the planning out of the to-do list for the parents," said Ashlee Mullinex, co-owner of L&E Playhouse. "They can come and enjoy the creative stuff and making memories but not the messes."
