OPPRESSIVE HEAT AND HUMIDITY THE REST OF THE WEEK
Humidity continues to rise and with dew points heading into the 70’s, the sticky feel is with us the rest of the week. Our first heat wave of August begins Wednesday with highs near 90 degrees. It turns hotter and much more uncomfortable heading towards the weekend as afternoon temperatures climb into the 90s. With the higher heat and humidity, stray showers and thunderstorms are possible each day.
It stays steamy through the weekend until a front can bring relief to the heat and humidity on Monday. Towards the end of the week, with dew points in the 70s, heat indices are likely to climb to the upper 90s to near 100 degrees.
WEEKEND OUTLOOK:
Not much change for the weekend, as the heat and humidity continues. Storm chances are not very high for Saturday. The best chance of the two days is Sunday. A cold front approaching from the west helps to trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs are still hot in the lower to middle 90s Saturday and lower 90s Sunday.
NEXT WEEK:
Showers and thunderstorms still threaten Monday as finally the cold front finally makes it through the area. Highs are expected in the middle and upper 80s to near 90 degrees, and the humidity is still around. By Tuesday, we get a break from the extreme heat and humidity as temperatures fall back to more seasonable numbers, in the middle 80s ,and the humidity is nudged back down too.
