NEWVILLE, Pa. — The Big Spring School District and members of the surrounding community are banding together to help victims of Hurricane Helene.
Student groups, staff and local businesses have collected supplies such as cleaning items, pet food, baby food, toiletries and nonperishable food. Organizers say they have already gathered 27 skids of items.
People who help gather supplies will be recognized at Big Spring's Friday night football game against Middletown. Participants will get free admission to the game and be recognized in a presentation at kickoff.
The donations will be sent to receiving centers in Asheville, North Carolina to be distributed throughout the state.
