YORK COUNTY, Pa. — States in the Southeast continue to clean up after Hurricane Helene tore through the region.
The deadly storm killed more than 180 people and many others are still missing.
Here on the local level, organizations are collecting donations to help with the relief efforts, and some are even sending volunteers down south to help.
The American Red Cross of Greater Pennsylvania deployed an emergency response vehicle outside their office in York County this morning.
So far, more than 30 volunteers from the American Red Cross of Greater Pennsylvania have deployed to help people affected by Helene.
The emergency response vehicle will be driven by a volunteer from Lancaster County who will meet up with a second Red Cross volunteer driver and head to Kingsport, Tennessee, where they’ll receive further assignments.
These vehicles help distribute meals, water and critical relief supplies in some of the areas hardest hit by Helene.
