Pennsylvania business helping Hurricane Helene victims

Communities in our area are still collecting donations to help the victims of Hurricane Helene, including the owner of a hauling business.

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — A flatbed trailer in a parking lot on Reynold's Street in South Williamsport is full of donations.

Kevin Breen owns Orange Blossom Services, which is a hauling business. Breen drove down to the Boone Banner Elk area in North Carolina for work shortly before Helene hit. Shortly after he saw the devastation from the storm.

"I went on FEMA runs and i started towing FEMA trailers down to the North Carolina and Georgia area, once I got down there, I saw what was needed personally instead of just a place to live or a place to shower, I saw and drove on the mud covered roads, I saw the destruction," Kevin Breen, Boone Banner Elk NC disaster relief.

So, Breen and his wife are collecting donations for people who lost everything in Helene.

The couple plans to leave for North Carolina on Saturday.

With winter on the way, Breen is accepting cold-weather gear and other items to drop off.

"Hand tools, the sanitizer, propane cylinders, stuff to do hand work to get the people back into their houses, or at least to be able to access their roads so they can get out down into town, to get the supplies needed," said Breen.

Donations can be dropped off until Friday evening. Breen plans to do another donation collection after Thanksgiving.
