Landscapers battle high temperatures to keep gardens cool

As temperatures soared, landscapers at Geller Brothers Landscaping braved the scorching heat to keep gardens in top shape.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — As temperatures soared, landscapers at Geller Brothers Landscaping braved the scorching heat to keep gardens in top shape.

With the temperatures hitting triple digits, owner Nick Geller and his team faced the challenge head-on, working tirelessly to get the job done while staying cool.

"We saw it a couple of days ago, and when we were looking at it, like, 'Aw man, this is gonna be pretty brutal,'" Geller said.

Despite the unforgiving weather, the team adjusted their schedules, starting work as early as 6 a.m. to avoid the most intense heat of the day.

"We've been trying to start real early in the morning, that way we can get out by 1:30 or 2 before the sun is really bad," Geller explained.

Additional precautions were also taken, such as wearing long sleeves to shield themselves from the sun and staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water and Gatorade. Kenton Meckle, a landscaper at Geller Brothers Landscaping, emphasized the physical toll of the job in extreme heat.

"You're all sweaty already from the pine needles, the dirt, and everything just sticking to you when you’re sweating out here," Meckle said.

Geller also said that he’d rather get the job done than have clients try to do it on their own.

Although the job is hard, Nick and his team said they enjoy what they do and try to find ways to continue their services throughout the year regardless of the season.
