HARRISBURG, Pa. — A popular Harrisburg movie theater will be temporarily shutting its doors due to flooding caused by remnants of Tropical Storm Debby.
Rachel Landon, the general manager of Midtown Cinema, posted on Facebook that the cinema was flooded overnight and the damage was significant enough that the building must temporarily close for restorations.
"This may take several weeks," Landon wrote. "Meaning that all future programming is canceled."
In the post, Landon went on to thank staff members who helped move furniture and equipment and packed up concessions to ensure that restoration can begin over the weekend.
"We are heartbroken, but we thank you, our community and our amazing patrons for always being there for us. We look forward to opening our doors again," Landon wrote.
For those interested in supporting the independent cinema, Landon wrote that signing up for a membership or purchasing a gift card helps most.
"Your support will help ensure we can continue bringing great films to Harrisburg as soon as we reopen," the Facebook post reads.
