LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Tuesday was a day of cleanup across south central Pennsylvania.
“This snow is very heavy, it’s wet, it’s full of water," said Joseph Hipple, who FOX43 found shoveling outside his home in Manor Township. "It’s not for the young of heart….or the older ones especially.”
The snow fell fast and hard, in just a few hours, leaving as much as five to six inches behind in parts of Lancaster County.
“[It's] very heavy, I wish our grandchildren were here because we could make an awesome snowman right now and sledding hill and all that, but it’s very heavy...that’s why we’re taking turns," said Eileen Leaman, as she and her husband shoveled their driveway.
It was just the right timing and amount for a snow day.
“Mom’s shoveling the driveway and we’re going to build a snowman after," said Aubrey Zink, who enjoyed a day off of school Tuesday.
“[The kids] just love it," said her mom, Laura. "It’s good for playing, and good for naps later this afternoon.”
While more snow may seem like a gut punch after Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction of an early spring, it did start to melt as fast as it came.
“He’s probably in Florida right now," said Hipple. "He’s a smart groundhog obviously."
“I think if you look ahead, it looks like it’s going to be in the 50s," added Dan Leaman. "That’s good, I can play golf.”
