LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Tuesday was less than ideal for drivers out and about in many parts of Lancaster County.
“Slushy, slick in a lot of areas," said Steve Detzel of West Lampeter Township. "Surprised it’s not a little cleaner at this point.”
“Actually it was a little worse than I was expecting, especially [with] some of the big trucks on the road and I live in Marietta so a lot of roads weren’t clear there," added Damian Rapp of Marietta.
Rapp told FOX43 it was a slow drive in to work at Costco in Lancaster.
“But at least there weren’t any accidents on [Route] 30 when I was coming in so that was pleasantly surprising," he said.
FOX43 ran into Luis Quiroz of Bird-in-Hand at a local gas station. He owns Chellas Arepa Kitchen food truck which is stationed on Hempstead Road.
He decided to close for the day because of the weather.
“Definitely feels more slippery than usual," he said. "I think other times the plows were able to get there sooner but because it was a later snow it was difficult to have the roads clear, even in my neighborhood.”
Parts of Lancaster County saw upwards of three inches of snow fall overnight into Tuesday morning.
A storm with measurable snow—something that’s been few and far between over the last few years.
“I work at a place where we sell a lot of ice melt when there is snow and we’re starting to move some now but most guys are still stocked up from last year that never got used," said Detzel.
“Usually we just get a coating if anything, but we haven’t had a good storm like this in awhile," added Rapp.
