PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Update: PennDOT has lifted the speed limit restrictions on all major Central Pa. highways.
Update: PennDOT has lifted the speed limit restrictions placed on most major highways in Central Pa.
Speed limits have been restored to their usual limits except on Interstate 76 and Interstate 81 north of I-78 in Lebanon County.
Previous: PennDOT (Pennsylvania Department of Transportation) has reduced the speed limit on major roadways across Central Pa. due to the severity of the snow in the area.
The affected areas include Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York Counties.
Currently, PennDOT has reduced the speed limit to 45 mph on the following roads:
- Interstate 78
- Interstate 81
- Interstate 83
- Interstate 283
- Route 15
- Route 22
- Route 30
- Route 222
- Route 283
- Route 581
Although PennDOT crews are treating roadways, the department’s primary goal is to keep roads passable, not completely free of ice and snow. PennDOT will continue to treat roadways throughout the storm until precipitation stops and roads are clear.
