PENNSYLVANIA, USA — The FOX43 Weather Impact Team declared Weather Impact Alert Days Tuesday and Wednesday. The primary impact is high heat and humidity that makes for dangerous feels-like numbers that could lead to heat-related illnesses, but stronger storms are possible too.
An EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING is in effect for Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York counties through 8 P.M. Tuesday. Feels-like numbers peak between 105 to 110 degrees. A HEAT ADVISORY then takes over starting 8 P.M. Tuesday through 8 P.M. Wednesday as feels-like numbers climb near 100 degrees through the middle of the week.
A HEAT ADVISORY is in effect for Mifflin and Juniata counties from 12 P.M. Monday to 8 P.M. Tuesday. There are no alerts for Mifflin and Juniata counties on Wednesday.
Stay hydrated and find ways to keep cool to avoid heat-related illnesses.
A few showers and thunderstorms are possible again Tuesday afternoon through early evening. Storms have the potential to produce damaging wind gusts, torrential downpours, and small hail. There’s now a level 2 out of 5 threat Tuesday for the entire area. Wednesday also brings a level 2 out of 5 threat for strong to severe storms. A cold front brings more scattered storm activity, with areas mostly along and east of Harrisburg with the highest threat. There’s a lower threat (1 out of 5) for severe weather farther north and west of Harrisburg. Again, storms mostly produce damaging winds and torrential downpours, but small hail is possible too. Secure loose outdoor objects before storms develop. Seek shelter immediately if you hear thunder or see lightning.
