Will Francine bring tropical rain to Pennsylvania?

The storm is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane before making landfall in Louisiana late Wednesday.

PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Tropical Storm Francine is strengthening in the Gulf Coast as it moves northeast towards the United States. The storm is expected to reach hurricane status as it nears the Louisiana coastline, where landfall is expected Wednesday afternoon.

Francine is expected to bring a life-threatening storm surge to parts of the Texas and Louisiana coastline through midweek. There is also a risk of hurricane-force winds. 

Hurricane warnings and Tropical Storm warnings are in place from coastal Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and into Texas.

After Francine makes landfall, the system will travel north through the Mississippi River Valley as it weakens into the weekend. The storm will stay well west of the East Coast.

No impacts are expected in south-central Pennsylvania at this time.

In fact, no big rainmakers are expected in Pennsylvania as high pressure stays overhead for much of the next week.
