A vigil was held Saturday night at Geeseytown Lutheran Church after three people were shot and killed near there Friday.

“This close to Christmas, a tragedy like this happening…I mean, I think people are still in shock, really,” said Terry Coral, who attended the vigil.

State Police say 44-year-old Jeffrey Lee Miller of Hollidaysburg shot and killed three people while driving along Juniata Valley Road in Blair County. The Altoona Mirror reports the victims are Kimberly A. Scott of Duncansville, William Rhodes, and his father-in-law, Kenneth Lynn.

State troopers killed Miller during a shootout Friday. Three state troopers were hurt in the process.

As community members work to come to terms with the shootings, some say the road to recovery will be a long one.

“I just hope the community can heal. This is the beginning of the healing process,” said Matthew Merchant, who lives in the area.
