The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Steering Committee held a press conference on Monday to announce events connected to the national holiday on January 21, 2013.

The 2013 MLK Jr. Day of Service opening ceremonies will have a theme of “Serving Those Who Serve” and will honor firefighters in Central Pennsylvania for their service to the region. Fire Chief Robert Talloni will be keynote speaker at the ceremonies.

Volunteers from non-profit organizations will sponsor projects throughout the day to pay respect to firefighters and others who serve people in our region. The group still needs volunteers to help with the ceremonies. For more information, you can go to their website: centralpamlkday.org
