QUIET & COLD:  A fast moving, weak disturbance has brought some light snow showers during the overnight hours.  Any snow falling clears by daybreak as the system moves away from the region.  Otherwise, we’re stuck with cold air and clouds to start your day.  Skies clear gradually through midday with temperatures climbing to the middle 20s.  Winds out of the northwest at 10-18mph hold wind chills to the 5-15° range, so it’s another arctic feel to the day.  We are mainly clear tonight as high pressure scoots in and out overnight.  Temps fall to near 10°.

FRIDAY SNOWFALL:  A two pronged system approaches the Northeast for Friday.  A wave riding along the jet stream to the north merges with a developing low in the South.  These two will combine energy, but they are lacking something.  The cold and dry air in place is robbing the moisture, so we’re looking at a system with limited moisture; therefore, only a little precipitation is expected.

So clouds roll in early in the day.  By midday, light snow enters the state and pushes east.  Expect snow to spread across central Pennsylvania by afternoon, continuing at a light pace through evening.  The snow looks to taper late Friday night into early Saturday morning.  Once we’re done, most of us will see a dusting to 2” with a few spots, especially to the west seeing around 3”.  It’ll be a lighter snow too.

WEEKEND IMPROVEMENT:  A lingering few flakes are possible on an otherwise cold and blustery Saturday.  Clouds are slow to clear too, but high pressure moves in for Sunday.  Highs Sunday will reach 30° with plenty of sun to go around.

BUSY WEEK AHEAD:  The pattern gets much more progressive and active next week.  We begin with a system that could bring a mess for us Monday.  Snow could change to freezing rain/sleet and then eventually to rain.  Highs top out in the mid 30s.  Then, a ridge of warmer air shoves into the Northeast.  Tuesday we’re in the middle 40s and Wednesday we’re back to 50°.  However, progressive flow keeps us cloudy with several waves bringing rain chances for Tuesday and especially Wednesday.  Looks like we could end the week on a cold note next week.

Have an awesome Thursday folks!
